Soccer Player Yellow Carded for Farting as Penalty Was Being Taken

During a game described by the referee as a “normal day at the office” a Chorlton Villa player has been yellow carded for “ungentlemanly conduct” after it was ruled he distracted an opposition player taking a penalty by deliberately breaking wind.

The goal keeper saved the ‘distracted’ shot but couldn’t stop the retaken penalty. He was sent off for criticising the referee. Minutes later another player was dismissed for questioning the call. Villa eventually won 6-4 with only just 8 players.

“It was a mistake for any of my team to get involved. The referee has applied the letter of the law to the absolute button. What you would hope for is that there can be room for some common sense as well,” said Chorlton Villa’s manager Ian Treadwell.
