It has been revealed that the Boston Red Sox tried to suspend their star hitter Manny Ramirez the week before they traded him to the LA Dodgers. The news, from several different sources, reveals how strained the relationship had become.

Ramirez refused to play in some games of last season, and the Red Sox drafted up a formal letter of suspension and were going to deliver it to him in July, at a game against the Yankees he was also refusing to play.

Ramirez’s agent said: “The bottom line is he was never suspended and there was never cause for suspension. The fact is the intent to suspend is not a suspension.” Players are usually suspended for drug use or off-field shenanigans.
