World number one Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Dubai Championships next week, citing a recent knee injury he incurred losing to Andy Murray in Rotterdam (SN reported). World number two Roger Federer also withdrew.

Nadal said: “The doctor has advised me to stay home and rest after the pain on my knee in Rotterdam. Nothing to be worried about but it needs some rest. I ask my fans and the tournament organizers to understand.”
