Florida State Players Arrested, Charged, for Campus Fight

Two Florida State wide receivers, Bert Reed and Cameron Wade, have turned themselves into police and are now facing misdemeanor battery charges following a fight in the Florida State student union which saw a bystander hit in the face with a chair.

The two freshmen had already been suspended from their team’s Nov. 15 game against Boston College, which they consequently lost 27-17. The pair were engaged in a physical kerfuffle with members of a college fraternity.

Coach Bobby Bowden said that while legal matters are pending, he expects Reed and Wade to be ready for their next game — the season finale against Florida, saying: “They’re going to be available. They’ve been disciplined.”
